Real businesses. Real relationships.
A conversation with Tobias Drage about handing over administrative work, finding peace of mind and making room for growth.
Before the partnership
What administrative challenges did you face before I started helping with daily operations?
Before I got help, I handled almost everything in my business myself. Everything from emails and customer contact to bookings, systems and all the little administrative tasks that come with running a business.
It wasn’t necessarily that the tasks were difficult, but they took a great deal of time and energy. And when you want to grow your business, spending so much time on things other people can help with just isn’t ideal.
Handing over responsibility
What has delegating emails, bookings, client communication and administrative systems meant for you and your business?
It has meant a great deal. Above all, it has given me enormous peace of mind knowing that things are taken care of without my having to be involved in everything myself.
It also means the business is no longer quite so dependent on me personally handling every little task.
And it’s great to have someone who takes responsibility and actively helps find solutions and improve the way we work.
Time to grow the business
What difference has the partnership made to your day-to-day life, and what has the freed-up time allowed you to focus on?
The biggest difference is definitely that I now have more time to work ON my business instead of only working IN it.
I can put more energy into my clients, sales, marketing and developing the business.
At the same time, it has given me more freedom in everyday life because I’m not constantly thinking about all the little things that need doing.
For me, ultimately, it’s about spending my time where I create the most value.
His recommendation
What would you tell another self-employed professional or business owner considering administrative support?
I would definitely recommend it.
One thing I’ve had to learn as a business owner is that you don’t have to do everything yourself. Just because you CAN do a task doesn’t mean you SHOULD.
My experience has been very positive, and I especially appreciate having someone who is committed, takes responsibility and wants to make things better.
If you want to grow your business as a self-employed person, I think it’s incredibly important to learn to delegate responsibility.
And that’s exactly what this partnership has helped me do.
What could you do with more time?
Let’s talk about freeing up time in your business.
